A suspect was taken into custody Monday afternoon after a fire erupted at a home on Stanley Mountain Road in Mount Desert.
Chief David Kerns of the Mount Desert Police Department confirmed that a suspect had been taken into custody, but he referred all other questions about the case to the state fire marshal’s office, which was investigating the blaze.
The fire was reported around 3 p.m. and caused Stanley Mountain Road to be closed off. The extent of the damage wasn’t immediately clear.
Fire engines from several departments convened at the end of the road, where it intersects with Route 3 on the opposite side of Abel’s Lobster. Traffic on Route 3 was reduced to one lane.
