The man who died by suicide at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset has been identified.
Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, confirmed his identity as Kare Randall, 25, of Houston, Texas, in a Friday night email.
Randall was found dead Sunday in an apparent suicide, which is under investigation. It’s the third suicide at the jail since it opened in 2006, according to the Wiscasset Newspaper.
His younger brother, Joshua Sesay of Rockland, told the Wiscasset Newspaper that Randall was a “very quiet person” who was “protective” of his family.
But after he got in trouble as a teen and spent years behind bars, Sesay told the newspaper that Randall found many people “he thought would be there” had turned their backs on him.
Randall, who never left the South, came to Maine, where Sesay wanted to show him a “different way of life.”
His family is trying to get his remains back to Texas, according to the Wiscasset Newspaper.
