A woman is now facing charges in a raid last week that turned up seven pounds of fentanyl in Biddeford.
Alyssa Staples, 23, of Biddeford has been charged with aggravated drug trafficking, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
That charge follows the arrest last week of 24-year-old Almuntadhar Mohammed of Biddeford, with whom Staples is in a domestic relationship and shares an apartment, according to the MDEA. More arrests and charges are anticipated.
Mohammed faces seven counts of aggravated drug trafficking stemming from two arrests last week, according to the MDEA.
Mohammed allegedly bought large quantities of fentanyl from out of state, repackaged it and then sold it throughout Cumberland and York counties.
On Wednesday, Mohammed went to the parking lot of a Saco business where he delivered it to an undercover agent, the MDEA said Friday. That followed several other undercover purchases during an investigation into Mohammed’s alleged fentanyl trafficking.
He was arrested and taken to the York County Jail in Alfred, where he was released on $7,500 bail.
A subsequent search of Mohammed’s Ray Street apartment in Biddeford turned up seven pounds of fentanyl, a loaded handgun and $2,500 in suspected drug proceeds, according to the MDEA.
The fentanyl was worth an estimated $300,000.
Police arrested Mohammed again on Thursday in Saco.
He was being held on $100,000 bail at the York County Jail.
Staples was scheduled to appear in York Unified Court on July 30.
