An 18-year-old woman has died after a car she was driving in Liberty last week crashed into two larger vehicles on Route 3.
Blair Fuller-Barnard, of Montville, was critically hurt in the crash on Wednesday afternoon and had to be flown away by a LifeFlight of Maine helicopter. She later died from her injuries, said Lt. Cody Laite of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday.
The crash occurred when Fuller-Barnard reportedly tried to make a turn from West Main Street onto Route 3, also known as Belfast Augusta Road, police have said. Her 2002 Toyota Camry then struck a pickup and a dump truck that were heading in opposite directions on the busy road.
A passenger in the Camry, 19-year-old Donovan Aldus of Montville, was also badly injured and received a LifeLight trip for medical care after an ambulance had taken him to Belfast. Laite did not have an update on Aldus’ condition.
Route 3 was closed for two hours after the crash. No other injuries were reported.
