I am writing this letter to give thanks for the extraordinary care I received from the nurses, doctors and staff at the Down East Community Hospital. The nurses, in particular, were invariably cheerful, positive, kind and supportive. So it is distressing to read of their lack of a contract and their recent strike. Surely they deserve support for their outstanding service to our community’s well-being.
In that light, I started volunteering at the hospital a half day per week. The hospital welcomes volunteers in many positions. If you are looking for a good way to give back to our community, consider offering your time, make a call and see what you can offer.
