A Troy woman died Thursday after she collided with a flatbed truck in Unity Plantation.
Colleen Sullivan, 72, was driving a 2014 Honda Accord on Route 137, also known as Waterville Road, about 9:47 a.m. when she crossed into the path of a 2004 International flatbed wrecker driven by 51-year-old Brad Rollerson of Belfast, according to Lt. J. Chris Read of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
A LifeFlight helicopter was requested but didn’t respond. Sullivan was taken by ambulance to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where she succumbed to her injuries at 3:04 p.m., Read said Friday morning.
Rollerson was taken to MaineGeneral’s Thayer campus in Waterville for a blood test, as is standard procedure for crashes like this, according to Read.
Alcohol and speed aren’t considered factors.
Rollerson was hauling a front-end loader at the time of the crash. He was cited for having an insecure load and for exceeding the truck’s weight load, but Read said that was unrelated to the crash.
