A car crashed into a tractor-trailer hauling honeybees on the Maine Turnpike on Tuesday.
The crash caused the car to become engulfed in flames, according to Kennebunk Fire and Rescue.
After putting out the car fire, firefighters then used their hoses to rain water down over the agitated bees to get them to return to the hive, Kennebunk Fire and Rescue said.
No honeybees were harmed.
That comes just days after a tractor-trailer hauling 15 million bees up Interstate 95 rolled over in Clinton on Thursday evening. Those bees were destined for the blueberry barrens Down East. It’s unclear how many bees escaped or were injured in that crash, but some bees stung a few firefighters before being returned to the hives.
No additional information was immediately available.
