Organizers of the Great Falls Balloon Festival on Monday announced the cancellation of this year’s event.
In a statement, the festival’s Board of Directors said the decision followed “a series of challenges and unforeseen circumstances,” including “logistical issues, safety concerns, and other unexpected factors beyond our control.”
The balloon festival in Lewiston-Auburn was founded in 1992 and regularly draws 100,000 visitors to the region, according to organizers.
The board said the event’s 2024 business sponsors will receive refunds “with the hope that we can count on their support in the future.”
“The Board of Directors are committed to returning stronger in the future and are taking this time to reorganize and plan a more successful and resilient event,” the board said.
