Knox County hired Richard “Lance” Govang as its new administrator, filling a position that had been managed on an interim basis since January, according to the PenBay Pilot.
The Knox County commissioners voted him in on Tuesday, the Penbay Pilot reported. Govang, who is from Boothbay, will be relocating to Knox County for the job.
He has more than 30 years of experience in community management, including business development, budget plans and contract negotiations, Commissioner Ed Glaser said at the meeting.
Though he’ll start his position on Monday, Govang has until August 1 to move, according to the PenBay Pilot. Glaser said on Tuesday that Govang has a detailed schedule his first few weeks that will take him all around county departments.
His salary for 2024-2025 will be $105,913.
The position was previously managed on an interim basis by Gordon Page, who took over in January after former administrator Andy Hart resigned, according to the PenBay Pilot.
