A man who crashed his car on the Maine Turnpike was killed after walking into traffic early Saturday morning, according to Maine State Police.
Just after 3 a.m., Massachusetts resident Chhoeunly Phoeung, 36, was driving south in a Mazda CV5 when he veered off the road and struck several objects near the entrance of the Kittery weigh station, Maine State Police Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte said in a release.
Following the crash, Phoeung exited his car and allegedly walked onto the highway, where he was hit by a tractor-trailer. Phoeung was pronounced dead at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
Turcotte says the crash remains under investigation.
