A monster truck struck a utility wire while making a jump at a Topsham event, bringing down multiple utility poles and injuring two spectators.
The lobster-shaped truck named, “Crushtation” was maneuvering the dirt horse racing track just before 2 p.m. at the Topsham Fairgrounds during a monster truck show when the crash occurred, according to a release from Topsham Chief of Police Marc Hagan.
While jumping a series of moguls, the truck snagged a utility wire, which became caught on the truck and subsequently pulled several utility poles down, one of which was near spectators.
One attendee at the event was hit by falling equipment and was taken to Maine Medical center for treatment. A second injured person and was taken to Micoast Hospital in Brunswick. Several other people were treated for minor injuries on scene by first responders, Hagan said.
The driver of the monster truck was not injured.
Brunswick fire officials shut down power throughout most of Topsham while evacuating the fairgrounds, Hagan said. Power was restored by 4:30 p.m.
