Seven years after retiring, a Hermon superintendent is returning to fill the interim role.
Patricia Duran spent 45 years with the Hermon School Department before retiring in 2017. The Hermon School Committee hired her as the interim superintendent at a meeting Monday night with a 3-1 vote. Committee member Haily Keezer was the lone opposed vote.
Superintendent Micah Grant resigned April 1, with his resignation taking effect at the end of the school year in mid-June. Duran will replace Grant on an interim basis while the committee searches for a full time replacement.
“Congratulations, Patty,” Committee Chairwoman Stephanie Oiler said at the meeting. “We are very, very excited to have you.”
Duran joined the Hermon School Department as a teacher in 1972, before becoming the high school principal and then superintendent in 2000, according to previous reporting.
