A 6-year-old girl died this week after a badminton shift pierced her skull while playing with her brother.
Lucy Morgan was playing with her 10-year-old brother outside a North Shore Drive home in Limerick about 12 p.m. Saturday, according to Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
While playing, the aluminum shaft of a badminton racquet dislodged from its wooden handle, striking Morgan in the head and piercing her skull, Moss said Friday.
Moss described the injury as “unintentional.”
Morgan was taken to Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford before being airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Morgan died Wednesday from her injuries, according to Moss.
Her family was from Stockholm, New Jersey, and in Maine for vacation.
