A dead body was discovered last week just north of Lincolnville Beach after possibly washing up there, according to the Penobscot Bay Pilot.
The body was found by passersby and reported to police at around 3:30 p.m. on June 3, the newspaper reported. A cause of death had not been determined as of late last week, and police have not yet released the identity of the person.
Lt. Cody Laite of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office told the Pilot that the body appeared to have washed up from Penobscot Bay. It was then taken to Augusta for an autopsy at the state medical examiner’s office.
More information about the investigation wasn’t immediately available on Monday.
