I’ve read in the BDN of new housing units for seniors planned for Bangor. I have visited several such places and other than some safety features or elevators, I think most are lacking in the needs of seniors such as washer and dryer hook-ups and garages. Many are barely big enough for essential living space.
Common complaints from tenants include having to carry out laundry to a public laundromat or to a facility in their building with not enough working or suitable machines. Some tenants have cars and have to move them early in the morning for plowing.
In the future, I’d like to see senior housing designed with more thought for what these people need and deserve.
