Bangor’s joyful, rainbow-laden festival celebrating LGBTQ+ community members is about a week away, but there are events leading up to and following it that you might want to check out.
The annual Bangor Pride festival, including a parade down Main Street, is slated for Saturday, June 22, in downtown Bangor. Last year it drew more than 7,000 people, according to Bangor Pride’s website. The Health Equity Alliance is behind Bangor Pride.
Here’s a list of trivia nights, drag shows and other events happening in Bangor during the rest of Pride month.

Sunday, June 16
— Pride fashion show from 2 to 4 p.m. at Red Rabbit Bazaar, 54 Columbia St.
Tuesday, June 18
— Pride trivia night with Priscilla Poppycocks from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Stage Door, 131 Main St. LGBTQIA+ history trivia will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 20
— Drag show at 8 p.m. at Mad Kat and Company, 393 North Main St., Brewer. The show is free and open to those who are 21 years or older. Bangor Pride lists Dynah Thirst, Mama Martini, Seren Serenity, Carmilla Velour, The Cashay Banks, Markie the Mascot and host Roxxxi Kass as the performers.
Friday, June 21
— A yoga “mini retreat” is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Spiritual Goddess Collective, 16 State St. — AARP Maine will screen the documentary “Bar Stories from Queer Maine,” at 6 p.m. at Husson University’s Gracie Theater, 180 College Circle. A discussion with the filmmakers will follow. The event is free and requires registration.
— A Pride improv show is slated for 7 p.m. at Queen City Cinema Club, 128B Main St. Tickets are $10 at the door.
— A pre-Bangor Pride Festival dance party and show from the Delicious Drag Divas will be held at 9 p.m. at the club. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door, and attendees must be 18 or older.
Saturday, June 22
— Bangor Pride Festival from noon to 4 p.m. in downtown Bangor. The parade starts at 11 a.m. and walks down Main Street.
— The Delicious Drag Divas party is slated for 6 p.m. at Benjamin’s Pub, 123 Franklin St. The show is open to those who are 21 years or older. Tickets are $20 or $30.
Sunday, June 23
— Pride service at 10 a.m. at Hammond Street Congregational Church, 28 High St.
— Queer Yoga at the Spiritual Goddess Collective, 16 State St. A CommunitTEA Connections Community Pride party will go from 2 to 4 p.m., and the yoga begins at 4:15 p.m.
Thursday, June 27
— National HIV Testing Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Health Equity Alliance, 304 Hancock St., No. 3B.
— Northern Light Health will host a panel about gender-affirming care in today’s health care landscape at 6 p.m. at Bangor Arts Exchange, 193 Exchange St.
Friday, June 28
— Coffee with Creatives at 5:30 p.m. at Chimera Coffee, 24 Broad St.
Sunday, June 30
— A viewing of “Every Body,” a documentary that follows the stories of three openly intersex people, at 1 p.m. at Queen City Cinema Club, 128B Main St. People under the age of 17 require an adult to accompany them.
