Maine tree trimmer dies after bucket touches power lines

A Peru man died Saturday afternoon when the bucket lift he was in touched power lines.

Gilles Anctil, 81, was trimming trees on Greenwoods Road in Peru when the boom and bucket he was operating touched power lines, according to the Sun Journal.

That sparked a fire, and bystanders tried unsuccessfully to free Anctil from the bucket.

He died at the scene, the Journal reported.

His death remains under investigation.
