Shop Greater Bangor or go home.
This might be a peculiar opening statement, however going home seems to be the only option if anyone is visiting downtown Bangor especially the Waterfront. Why you might ask? I recently moved to Bangor and was looking forward to enjoying all the amenities that Bangor has to offer, especially the waterfront followed by the shopping downtown. However the apparent lack of public facilities repeatedly caused me to cut my excursions short.
How can a city promote a waterfront and shopping local when there are few public restroom options? One of the current restrooms is boarded up and is at the far end of the waterfront away from the popular areas. Now that there are food trucks on the waterfront promoting outdoor eating, the public needs a bathroom or at the very least a porta potty. Even the food venders have no place to wash. Hmm, makes one wonder!
In my experience, the restaurant and mercantile owners won’t let you use their restrooms. So the only choice is to go home. Bangor needs to remedy this situation.
