The small plane that crashed into the Androscoggin River last week has been recovered.
The plane crashed into the river in Topsham about 10:30 a.m. on June 16, according to Topsham Fire and Rescue.
The pilot escaped and was rescued by two kayakers who brought him to shore. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.
Maryland-based insurer Avemco told The Times Record that the heavily damaged 1947 fixed-wing, single-engine Aeronca 7AC was removed from the river on Friday.
The plane is owned by Anthony Pringle of Durham. Durham told authorities he took off from the former Brunswick Naval Air Station and flew for about 45 minutes when he lost power and crash landed in the river, according to The Times Record.
