The driver of a dump truck was injured in Topsham on Wednesday after a head-on crash with a SUV that caused both vehicles to roll onto their sides.
The driver of the dump truck, 52-year-old Thomas Johnson of Greene, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center with injuries that weren’t life threatening, according to the Topsham Police Department.
The crash happened at the town line between Topsham and Lisbon on Route 196, after the driver of a Cadillac SRX allegedly veered into the dump truck’s lane, police said. The Cadillac came to a rest in the road, while the truck went off it.
The driver of the Cadillac, 28-year-old Robert Philpot of Casco, and his passenger, 64-year-old Donald Asselin of Lewiston, declined medical assistance, police said.
The crash happened just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday, closing Route 196 for 30 to 45 minutes, police said.
