More details have emerged in the Thursday afternoon drowning off Bar Harbor.
Gregory Taylor, 20, had just come ashore at Clark Cove after kayaking, exited the kayak and reentered the water without a life jacket and began to struggle, according to Jeff Nichols, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Marine Resources.
That’s when witnesses called 911 about 3:30 p.m. to report a swimmer in distress.
A dive team recovered Taylor’s body about 6 p.m., which was taken to a local funeral home.
No additional information was immediately available.
