A Massachusetts man died Saturday night when his car rolled over in Fairfield.
Ryan Sargent, 38, of Sterling, Massachusetts, was allegedly speeding while under the influence of alcohol in a 2003 Honda Civic on Western Avenue about 10:17 p.m., according to Officer Casey Dugas, a spokesperson for the Fairfield Police Department.
Sargent allegedly veered into the wrong lane, sideswiping another driver and continuing to drive down the wrong side of the road.
While police investigated the hit-and-run crash, officers learned that the vehicle suspected in the hit-and-run had crashed on Center Road, Dugas said Sunday.
Sargent had rolled over when he came to a corner in the road, and he was ejected in the crash, Dugas said.
Sargent died at the scene.
No one else was injured in the rollover crash, and the other driver in the hit-and-run wasn’t injured.
