Police are investigating the death of an infant in Bangor on Tuesday.
The child was found unresponsive in a crib by family members, Bangor police Sgt. Jason McAmbley said in a news release.
Police and rescue workers went to the Capehart neighborhood shortly after 10 a.m. after receiving an emergency call stating that the infant had been found unresponsive.
Police and Bangor Fire Rescue members performed CPR on the infant but were unsuccessful, McAmbley said.
Bangor detectives and evidence technicians were called to the scene, as is standard protocol for all unattended deaths.
McAmbley said family members are cooperating with investigators and the state medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy.
No further information will be released at this time, he said.
