A Bangor man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly creating a standoff and threatening to burn down his apartment building.
Bangor police officers were called to the Lincoln Street residence at around 6 p.m. after receiving calls from two separate tenants that Daniel Ireland, 33, was making threats, according to Sgt. Jason McAmbley.
Ireland, who was reportedly intoxicated when officers arrived at the scene, had been telling people to get out of the building and had threatened to burn the building down.
An earlier encounter with Ireland led officers to believe that he was carrying a loaded handgun.
When officers arrived on scene, all of the building’s tenants were evacuated, and Bangor police attempted to get Ireland to leave the building.
Ireland came out of the building after around 20 minutes, and was arrested after a brief struggle with Bangor officers.
Ireland, who has been charged with terrorizing, criminal threatening and disorderly conduct, was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
