A man who allegedly threatened his parents with a gun in Augusta and disappeared before police arrived was found dead Tuesday about a mile south of the home.
On July 5, Augusta police were called to a domestic assault incident on Riverside Drive, where Justin M. Larrabee, 40, had allegedly threatened his family and displayed a gun then fled.
Larrabee had been wanted on charges of domestic assault, criminal threatening and violation of conditions of release, among other charges, according to Augusta police, who issued a shelter-in-place order for part of Riverside Drive while Larrabee remained at large.
On Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., four days after the initial incident, Augusta police learned of a body in the Kennebec River near the base of the Cushnoc Bridge (Route 3).
They were able to identify Larrabee and subsequently notified his family, according to Augusta police. His cause of death was not disclosed.
