The hand wringing waves on in the debate around whether or not Joe Biden should step away from the presidential campaign. This is based on his age, his ability to defeat Donald Trump, not to mention his ability to govern the executive branch for another four years. I think the strong, decisive move for Biden and the Democrats is to move on from the denial phase, get right into acceptance, find Kamala Harris an articulate running mate, and get on with telling the American people how they are going to defend and build up our democracy.
The second best move they can do is just fully lean into the “Weekend at Bernie’s” vibe and tell the American people they’re not just voting for the figurehead of Biden but the whole team. The team who I think has done a lot of good for the country but is doing a lot of harm to the democratic platform by not admitting to the thing people have seen with their own eyes.
