ORONO — University Credit Union is pleased to welcome Lauren Cornelio to the credit union’s team of community engagement managers, who represent UCU in communities throughout the state. Based in Scarborough, Cornelio will cover southern Maine and work alongside Community Engagement Managers Jenn Deschene in Presque Isle, Seth Poplaski in Orono, and Ree Anna Bridges in Machias.
UCU’s community engagement managers are positive, passionate, and motivated ambassadors who work to build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the financial well-being of Maine people. They participate, host and volunteer at local activities; serve on nonprofit boards and committees; host financial education workshops and events to improve financial literacy; engage with local municipalities, schools, and institutions as a community partner; and identify opportunities for financial sponsorship.
Cornelio is a 2024 graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a master’s degree in organizational leadership. She joins UCU from the Maine International Trade Center where she interned as a Future Global Leader, collaborating with staff to optimize international trade for Maine businesses. Cornelio is also an active founding member of the alumni council at the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute, where she was an intern and a student leader.
“UCU is thrilled to welcome Lauren Cornelio as our new Community Engagement Manager in Southern Maine, where she has been very active in the community as a student, intern, and leader with several community institutions,” said Renee Ouellette, president and CEO of University Credit Union. “Lauren brings a vibrant passion for leadership and people helping people that will serve our members and communities well in this role.”
