Shannen Doherty and estranged husband Kurt Iswarienko split amid her battle with cancer.
Doherty started dating the celebrity photographer in 2008. Iswarienko popped the question nearly three years later. Us Weekly exclusively confirmed in October 2011 that Doherty and Iswarienko tied the knot.
Four years later, Iswarienko was by Doherty’s side when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. When the cancer returned in 2020, Doherty once again leaned on her spouse. However, in April 2023, Doherty filed for divorce and claimed that Iswarienko had been unfaithful.
The pair were in the middle of their divorce proceedings when the actress died on July 13, 2024.
One month earlier, she filed legal documents accusing Iswarienko of “intentionally delaying settlement in hopes that I will not survive the divorce proceedings.” She had requested a monthly spousal support payment of $15,343 retroactive to June 1, 2024.
“While I have been unable to work, incurring exorbitant medical expenses not covered by insurance to undergo experimental treatments in hopes of prolonging my life, Kurt has been utilizing the airplane, spending thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights for his ‘agent’, while simultaneously claiming that he has insufficient funds with which to support me,” Doherty claimed, referring to Iswarienko’s agent, Collier Grimm, whom she alleged is also his romantic partner. “Although Kurt’s income is substantially more than mine, he has not made any temporary spousal support payments and has made no contributions to my attorneys’ or accounting fees and costs since the time our divorce action was filed.”
Us Weekly later confirmed that Doherty filed paperwork to officially divorce Iswarienko — and terminate her request for spousal support — one day before her death. The documents stated that Doherty and Iswarienko were proceeding with their divorce as uncontested by jointly filing a declaration for default of dissolution of their marriage.
