Maine State Police troopers on Tuesday afternoon closed Route 3 near the Augusta city line for an incident in the area.
The state police Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene, which was on the Vassalboro side of Church Hill, Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety said.
No additional information was immediately available.
Route 3 runs from Augusta to Belfast before merging with Route 1 and continuing to Mount Desert Island.
