ORONO — The Collins Center for the Arts announced its 2024-25 season schedule featuring programs that will bring a variety of performances in music, dance, theatre, and more to the stage.
This season’s schedule at the CCA has something for everyone, including modern cirque acts and comedians; contemporary and Irish step dancing performances; Taiko drumming; holiday concerts; and special showings for schools. In addition, audiences can look forward to another packed slate of National Theatre Live and Metropolitan Opera broadcast events.
Mainstage highlights include:
- The return of Maine stand-up comedian Bob Marley in September.
- “Because of You,” a Tony Bennett tribute featuring Michael Feinstein for the annual CCA gala in October.
- musical comedies “Menopause the Musical 2” in September and “Broadway’s Next Hit Musical” in February.
- and former Barenaked Ladies lead singer Steven Page for a solo concert in April.
Many shows will also feature a wide variety of music genres from Celtic music to jazz standards, country to classical, a Beatles Tribute Band to Broadway and folk to alternative rock.
Contained within the broader season is a collection of “World Stage Events,” at which the CCA will bring exclusive Maine performances and Orono debuts to the stage in nine acts from all over the globe, including from the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Scotland, Brazil, Japan, Austria, and beyond.
“I am very excited by the breadth, balance and quality of performances lined up for this season,” CCA Executive Director Danny Williams said. “I think there really is something for everyone to enjoy. And while a great deal of thought and consideration is put into who will be on our season, we have to balance that with making sure our performances are accessible, which means making them as affordable as possible. As part of a public university, that is central to our mission.”
