In the sum total of our nation’s existence, only two wars were necessary, the Revolutionary War and World War II.
The first was to rid ourselves of that parasite, Britain. The second was to destroy the two axis powers, Germany and Japan. They represented our total destruction as we know it, if we did not win.
The 1812 war was the last gasp of that parasitic power, Britain, which failed. I choose to view it as a continuation of the Revolutionary War.
The Civil War need not have occurred, Fort Sumter need not have been fired upon and the slavery question was being debated in parts of the South.
Korea was going Communist. So what. Even China eventually entered the world of capitalism, Vietnam, the same. I think Iraq, Afghanistan were abortive and pointless, as was Syria, and to an extent, Bosnia. All we harvested from these debacles was enrichment of the military-industrial complex and global ill-feeling and distrust. I believe we now stand, a testament to stupidity and waste, with aged simpletons to lead us. By the way, I am 83.
There’s an old saying: Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result, is insanity. Lemmings to the last.
