Four children and four adults were injured after a Jeep hit a moose and then hit an oncoming SUV in Shirley Friday night. police say.
Just before 9:30 p.m., a Jeep Cherokee traveling south on Greenville Road struck the moose before colliding with a northbound Chevy Suburban, according to the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office.
A 5-year-old child suffered serious injuries and was flown via helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in serious but stable condition. Seven other injured people were taken to Northern Light CA Dean Hospital, including four children under nine years old.
