Saoirse Ronan is now a married woman!
The four-time Oscar nominee, 30, tied the knot with her Mary Queen of Scots costar and longtime partner Jack Lowden earlier this year, according to the register of Scottish civil marriages records.
The Sunday Independent reported that the ceremony took place over the weekend of July 20, and was intimate, including only a handful of their closest friends and family at the Edinburgh Central Registrar’s Office in Lowden’s native Scotland.
News of Lowden, 34, and Ronan’s romance broke in December 2018, when the pair appeared together in the movie Mary Queen of Scots in which she played the role of Mary Stuart and he played the monarch’s husband, Lord Darnley. Gossip that they were dating began to swirl that same month.
Page Six was the first to report they had developed into more than just friends. However, a year later, the Little Women star denied the romance when asked to address the speculation surrounding her relationship with Lowden.
“Am I allowed to ask if you’re going out with the person that everyone thinks you’re going out with?” a reporter for The Telegraph asked in December 2019. Ronan said, “No,” putting an end to the discussion.
Lowden himself dodged the gossip about their love life, commenting to ES Magazine in February 2019, “Oh I’m not going to talk about that. I don’t like talking about that side of life.”

Still, rumors persisted, as the Daily Mail shared photos of Lowden and Ronan hanging out together near her London home in 2020, and Lowden was spotted showing Ronan some support after finishing up a stage production of The Tragedy of Macbeth in 2021.
Additionally, they were seen attending the Australian Open together in 2022, and began to show up on each other’s social media. Ronan made various appearances on Lowden’s Instagram in 2022 (all posts have since been deleted) before Lowden shared various photos from a 2023 trip to Japan which included a glimpse of Ronan.

The pair took and shared a mirror selfie in December 2023 to commemorate the new year. “NYE. Lang May yer Lum Reek. Be good, be bad, but fannies we are all,” Lowden captioned the shot.
In June, Lowden shared videos of himself and Ronan attending the Glastonbury music festival in England via Instagram Stories, and posted a romantic photo of himself with his arms wrapped around Ronan to his grid.
