Maine State Police on Saturday arrested a man and charged him with murder after discovering a dead body outside a South Gardiner home.
The Gardiner Police Department found the body of a man Friday afternoon while responding to a residence on Bartlett Street for a welfare check called in by a family member, according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Gregory Fisher, 52, of South Gardiner, has been charged with murder and taken to Kennebec County Jail. He will likely make his first appearance on Monday, Moss said.
Further testing is being conducted to positively identify the victim, who died of blunt force trauma, the state’s chief medical examiner found.
