A Portland man allegedly shot a woman early Monday morning.
Randy Aron, 47, was charged with aggravated attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and possession of firearms by prohibited persons, according to Brad Nadeau, a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.
Police found a woman on Portland Street suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm after receiving a call about a possible shooting in the area about 2:42 a.m., Nadeau said Monday afternoon.
She was taken to Maine Medical Center, where she was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.
Officers tracked Aron down to a High Street residence less than an hour later. Aron eventually emerged from the residence and surrendered to the department’s Special Reaction Team.
A subsequent search of the apartment turned up a firearm, Nadeau said.
No additional information was immediately available.
