A restaurant and pub in Bucksport is for sale for less than a median-priced home in the area.
Glenn’s Place on Route 1 near the Orland town line is listed for sale for $250,000. That’s $22,000 cheaper than Bucksport’s 2023 median home price of $272,000, according to the Maine State Housing Authority.
The sale does not come with land. The restaurant owner, Glenn Redman, leases the 5-acre parcel from two Holden residents, according to Bucksport’s property tax assessment records.
Redman opened the restaurant in 2018, according to the Ellsworth American. It is being offered as a “turn-key” business, with all equipment and furnishings included as part of the package. The restaurant’s menu consists of standard diner fare such as burgers, seafood, salads, soups and other dishes.
The section of Route 1 where the restaurant is located had a 2023 daily traffic count of more than 17,000 vehicles, according to the listing.
“This restaurant is not just a business; it’s a cherished part of the community and a golden opportunity for the next owner,” the listing said. “With years of operation, this restaurant has established a strong brand presence in the community.”
Redman is willing to provide training and support during the ownership transition, the listing said.
The business is the second highly visible restaurant along that same busy section of Route 1 to go on the market in recent years. Sandy’s Saloon, on the other side of the town line in Orland, was put on the market in 2022 for $1 million, but the price was later reduced to less than $800,000.
That property, which includes more than an acre, remains on the market.
