A woman who was among four people hospitalized after a shooting in Portland on Tuesday has died of her injuries, according to police.
Susan McHugh, 54, of Gray, died from a gunshot wound. Police have ruled her death a homicide.
The shooting happened around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday on Forest Avenue near Morrill’s Corner. Multiple witnesses in the area say they heard lots of loud bangs around 8:45 p.m. Two witnesses said they heard as many as seven gunshots.
Four people who were injured, including McHugh, were brought to Maine Medical Center.
Police reported McHugh’s death on Wednesday night after an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
In a news release, Portland police spokesperson Brad Nadeau said the department is not releasing any details about the other victims at this time but will as the case allows.
