Presque Isle’s Ruby Tuesday is closed after failing health inspections in June and July.
A sign on the door of the Aroostook Centre Mall restaurant states, “Closed for repairs.”
Ruby Tuesday came to Presque Isle when the mall opened in 1993 and is one of the few original tenants remaining. The sign appeared within the last couple of weeks. The restaurant failed its two most recent inspections, according to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
The department’s health inspections are publicly available on its website.
“There is a direct connection between the sewage system and a drain originating from equipment in which food, portable equipment or utensils are placed,” stated the Ruby Tuesday report dated June 20.
Inspectors found a number of deficiencies, including poor plumbing, inaccurate thermometers, dirty ventilation, and sewage and liquid waste not being adequately removed.
A July 10 inspection noted continued general cleanliness issues, improperly maintained plumbing and insufficient lights.
The restaurant also failed one 2023 inspection but passed the next one that year, according to DHHS.
Ruby Tuesday has sites in Waterville and Auburn. The Bangor Mall restaurant closed in 2016.
