A Sedgwick man faces up to 60 years in prison for sharing images of himself sexually abusing children.
Travis Bessey, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of producing child sexual abuse material on Friday in U.S. District Court in Bangor, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
In May 2021, Bessey shared images of a man sexually abusing young children in an online chat room dedicated to distributing such material, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
State and federal law enforcement later executed a search warrant at Bessey’s home. During the investigation, he admitted to sending and receiving material depicting child sexual abuse.
Investigators recovered images of Bessey sexually abusing children from his phone, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Bessey faces up to 30 years in prison on each count, a fine up to $250,000, mandatory restitution to his victims and at least five years of supervised release.
