U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is scheduled to visit Maine next week to highlight federal investments in the state, the Department of Transportation announced Friday.
Maine is the last of the 50 states that Buttigieg has visited as secretary. During his visit Tuesday and Wednesday he will be highlighting how the Biden administration has strengthened supply chains, supported rural and tribal communities, and improved transportation, according to the announcement.
No other details have been released.
The visit comes while Buttigieg is reportedly being vetted as a potential running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris. The vetting team for Harris’ presidential campaign has met with six running mate candidates, including Buttigieg, according to NBC News.
The others are Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear and Arizona U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly, NBC News reported.
