A Brunswick man was being held in Cumberland County Jail Saturday afternoon after his vehicle allegedly hit a pedestrian on Pleasant Street in front of McDonald’s restaurant, according to Brunswick police.
Frederick Snowdon, 62, was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, eluding a police officer and driving to endanger, police said.
Snowdon allegedly turned left out of McDonald’s at 10:19, striking a pedestrian who was crossing Pleasant Street, Police Chief Scott Stewart said. Snowden initially stopped but took off before officers arrived, he said.
The car was found traveling fast going south on Church Road when officers saw it pull into a driveway, drive across the lawn and park behind a garage, according to the report. Police subsequently arrested Snowden.
Snowdon’s bail was set at $500 cash, with the condition that he not operate a motor vehicle.
The pedestrian was taken to Midcoast Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
