A female pedestrian was struck and injured in a collision near the Maine Mall in South Portland on Monday afternoon.
The collision near the Days Inn on the Maine Mall Road was reported at around 3:30 p.m., and when officers with the South Portland Police Department arrived on the scene, they found that a female pedestrian who had been sitting in a median had been seriously injured, according to spokesperson Shara Dee.
The SUV that struck the pedestrian also struck a car traveling in the other direction in a head-on crash, according to the South Portland Police Department.
The pedestrian was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle struck by the oncoming SUV was also treated on the scene and transported to a local hospital.
The SUV driver did not receive any injuries in the collision.
An investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
