I have contributed to Rep. Jared Golden’s campaigns and voted for him in past elections and understand that he needs to appeal to a largely right-leaning voting block to be able to represent all his constituents. I have had differences of opinion with some of his policies but feel he has done a good job in representing the overall interests of the people in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District.
That said, I find his current stay at home position with respect to supporting the Democratic ticket distressing. It’s not as though he has a better option — or any ethical option when it comes to using his elected position to help preserve our federal democratic republic. As a result, I will be taking a close look at the differences between him and his opposition and may elect to adopt his “stay at home” position when it comes to voting for my 2nd District representative in November’s election.
