A child died on Thursday after being hit by a truck while riding a bicycle in Sabattus.
The child had turned off Hillside Drive and was pedaling west on Litchfield Road about 2:22 p.m. when an eastbound 2020 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Seth Ringler of Portland hit them, according to Sabattus Police Chief Eric Baker.
Baker said late Thursday alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor and Ringler is cooperating with police.
The child was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where they succumbed to their injuries, according to Baker.
The crash remains under investigation.
