FORT KENT, Maine – Fort Kent police arrested a 23-year-old man on child pornography charges.
Logan Lusardi, who lives in the Fort Kent area, was arrested on Friday evening and charged with two counts of possession of sexually explicit material, according to Fort Kent Police Chief Michael DeLena. The material depicts underage individuals engaging in sexually explicit conduct, according to Maine law.
DeLena confirmed that the arrest occurred, but said he could not comment further as it was not Fort Kent police’s case. DeLena said they executed the arrest warrant on behalf of the Hancock and Washington County District Attorney’s office. Maine State Police requested the warrant. The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit also investigated the case.
Both of the charges stem from an incident on Oct. 4, 2023 in Blue Hill, according to the indictment filed in Hancock County Unified Court in Ellsworth. One of the charges against Lusardi involves possession of sexually explicit materials involving a person under 12 years old, which is a felony. The other charge involves possession of explicit materials with individuals under 16 years old, which is a misdemeanor.
Hancock County District Attorney Robert Granger said that it appears that Lusardi has lived in multiple locations over the past year or so. Granger said Lusardi was working in Blue Hill at one point. He has also lived in Bangor, and most recently was living in the Fort Kent area.
He said this was a computer crimes case based on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
The investigation has been ongoing for roughly two years.
Both Granger and officials at the Hancock County Superior Court were unable to confirm on Tuesday if Lusardi is currently imprisoned or out on bail. A date has not yet been set for Lusardi’s first court appearance.
