A Kittery man was arraigned on Wednesday in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Lincoln Deming, 44, is charged with civil disorder, entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, entering and remaining in the Gallery of Congress, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and parading, picketing or demonstrating in a Capitol building, according to the FBI.
He pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to all counts.
Investigators say Deming pulled on barricades to try to breach the police line on the West Plaza of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Later, police say Deming threw items at police officers on the West Plaza.
Once inside the Capitol building, investigators say Deming tried to enter locked doors on the third floor.
Police estimate he was in the building for about 33 minutes.
Deming was arrested in May.
His next hearing is set for Oct. 2.
