As a Mainer living in District 38, I support Steve Ellis to serve as my representative to our state Legislature and will be voting for him this coming November. District 38 is the heart of Maine’s organic farming community and we deserve a representative who will work to protect our natural environment and help prepare Maine for the ongoing climate breakdown.
Steve recognizes the importance of climate change mitigation and will work to support our farming, forestry, and fishing industries while also protecting wildlife and hunting. Unfortunately, our current representative, Benjamin Hymes, voted against environmental measures in 2023, including bills to launch offshore wind energy, protect loons, and reform net energy billing. Maine Conservation Voters gave Hymes a score of 17 percent, certainly a failing grade, in protecting Maine’s natural environment.
Not only is Steve Ellis running to help prepare for climate disasters, but also for other essential rights for Mainers. He supports our right to “privacy and dignity in all personal health decisions” (quoted from his website) and he will work for all Maine families to have healthcare coverage. He believes in democracy and values our rights to vote.
I urge all District 38 voters to meet Steve Ellis, visit his website, and to vote for Steve in November.
