A sold-out concert at the Maine Savings Amphitheater on Thursday night from country singer Luke Combs saw the Grammy Award-nominated songwriter return to Bangor two years after he had to cut short another concert here.
Combs, best known for his 2023 cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car,” started to play a concert on Sept. 3, 2022, at the Maine Savings Amphitheater but ended it early due to throat issues. He promised to refund all concert-goers their ticket costs and to make up for the concert — which he did, almost exactly two years later.
In those ensuing years Combs became one of the most popular country artists in the country, earning major crossover appeal with “Fast Car,” which he famously performed with Chapman at the 2024 Grammy Awards ceremony.
Hailey Whitters and Conner Smith opened for Combs in Bangor.
Just six shows remain for the 2024 season at the Maine Savings Amphitheater, including Walker Hayes on Aug. 30; Bret Michaels, Warrant, Firehouse and Dee Snider on Sept. 1; Jordan Davis on Sept. 7; Cody Jinks on Sept. 12; Pitbull and T-Pain on Sept. 14; and Post Malone on Sept. 16, which is sold out.
