An Old Town man will spend 36 months behind bars for downloading child pornography.
U.S. District Court Judge Lance Walker handed down the sentence against Matthew Podlaski, 40, on Tuesday at U.S. District Court in Bangor, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Podlaski also will serve five years of supervised release and pay $58,000 in restitution, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Between October and December 2022, Podlaski searched online for and downloaded images of sexually abused children, including under age 12, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Investigators seized 14 devices from Podlaski, including laptops, flash drives and external harddrives, where the images were stored, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Podlaski faced up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, in addition to the supervised release.
