The dump truck that fell through a covered bridge late last week was six times over the weight limit.
The Maine State Police issued Joshua Polewarzyk a $2,500 weight violation for the crash, according to the Portland Press Herald.
Polewarzyk was driving a Ford F750 about 12:45 p.m. Friday when he tried to cross the covered bridge connecting Windham and Gorham, the Gorham Police Department said last week.
The truck plummeted through the floor of the wooden bridge into the Presumpscot River below.
The Press Herald reported that the Ford weighs 36,000 pounds, well beyond the 6,000 pound limit for the bridge.
A Maine Department of Transportation spokesperson told the Press Herald that the bridge, known as Babb’s Bridge, will likely be repaired in the spring. The department is still determining how much repairs will cost.
The truck is owned by Biddeford-based The Driveway Guys.
